Our good friend and ANOTHER School of Motion Alumni, Ryan Plummer put together a great little set of weekly prompts to get the creative juices flowing for when times got slow and you need to keep rust off the dial. The "rules" if you can call them that given it's more of an exercise than anything else go as such…

The first piece I had done was actually in the dug out on the third base side of Chase Field in Phoenix. I had worked on several pieces for Arizona State's Campaign Kickoff Event so I was there for several days and of course I started to get a little itchy being away from After Effects for so long. The two following pieces are honestly the only two I've done that were anywhere close to staying within the actual 15 minutes.

Now although there seemed to be some great benefits to limiting yourself to fifteen minutes, I loved this excercise because it inveitably lead a rabbit hole of figuring out new techniques and styles I hadn't previously gotten into. Almost all of which I've used professionally since. I won't go any further on that matter but, Ryan interviewed me and put a great write up together on the subject of using the fifteen minute prompts as a regular part of your weekly routine. (Check out the link below) If you're interested in learning more go check out #not15minutemograph.
These following two pieces were done with considerable more time invested. (That also includes the first two videos at the top of the page.) Out of all this I still from time to time jump into paid projects by taking the paramaters a client has given me and doing a quick fifteen minute session. It's become a great tool to use, especially when the ideas are stubbornly stuck in my head.
